Francesca Dotto was educated in classical humanities and obtained a degree in flute at the Conservatorio “G. B. Martini” in Bologna in 2006, under the guidance of Maestro Enzo Caroli.
She began to study opera singing with soprano Elisabetta Tandura and in 2011 she graduated with honours and honorable mention at the Conservatorio “A. Steffani” in Castelfranco Veneto.
In 2012 she made her debut as Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème at La Fenice in Venice under the baton of Daniele Callegari, immediately making a name for herself for her refined musicality and interpretative skills.
She continued her career performing Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Verdi in Padua and La Traviata at the Verdi in Sassari.
It is the role of Violetta that makes her famous and allows her to become one of the most interesting interpreters of international opera world.
She has sung La Traviata on several occasions at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and in the famous production at the Opera di Roma, directed by Sofia Coppola and with costumes by Valentino Garavani, and in Athens, Lima, Tokyo and Berlin.
Her vocal skills, great versatility and innate quality as an actress allow her to masterfully interpret the roles in which she is the protagonist. She stands out in particular as Donna Anna and Fiordiligi by Mozart, Norma by Bellini, Anna Bolena and Elena in Marino Faliero by Donizetti, as Luisa Miller and Leonora in Trovatore by Verdi, Mimì and Liù by Puccini.
Her career has seen her perform in Italy and abroad in important productions at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro dell’ Opera in Rome, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Festival Verdi in Parma, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, the Greek National Opera, Festival Granda in Lima, Wiener Staatsoper, Semperoper Dresden, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, NCPA in Beijing, Kömische Oper in Berlin, Grand Théâtre of Geneva, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and Opéra of Lausanne. Over the years she has been conducted by R. Abbado, G. Bisanti, M.W. Chung, F.I. Ciampa, J. Conlon, D.Fasolis, R. Frizza, F. Lanzillotta, O. Lyniv, S. Montanari, P. Morandi, D. Oren, D. Renzetti, D. Rustioni, N. Santi, S. Scappucci, O. M. Wellber and has collaborated with directors such as H. Brockhaus, L. Dodin, S. Coppola, D. Livermore, D. Michieletto, F. Ozpetek, S. Poda, S. Ricci, G. Vick and Ai Weiwei.
